Abstract

The 3D Cd(II) coordination polymer Cd2(ODPA)(bpe)(py) (H2O)2 (1) with 3,3′,4,4′-oxydiphthalic acid (H4ODPA) and 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpe) was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectrum, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. X-ray crystallographic studies of 1 reveal that this metal-organic complex has an interesting (3,4)-connected 3D network with binary nodes. The Cd atoms are three-connected nodes and the ODPA ligands are four-connected nodes. Luminescent study indicates 1 has an emissive maximum at 408 nm in the solid state at room temperature.
