Abstract

A mathematical model of the growth of mass of a multispecies fish community is constructed taking into account natural growth, mortality and breeding. The Sterile Male Technique (STM) propounded Taylor and Costello (1973) is applied with a view to controlling ecological resources which are essential for the growth of fish populations. The optimal harvest policy is studied by invoking Pontryagin's Maximal Principle. Dynamical behaviour of the system is discussed at length.
