Abstract

Andrographis paniculata is a well-known medicinal plant that belongs to the Acanthaceae family and is also commonly known as "Kalmegh or king of bitters". It is a bitter herb used in Siddha, Ayurveda, and homoeopathy medicines, as well as tribal medicines in india and other countries. This article describes the synonyms, biological sources, phytoconstituents and various pharmacological activities of Andrographis paniculate includes Anti-inflammatory activity, hepatoprotective, antidiabetic, anticancer, antibacterial, antimalarial, antivenom, analgesic, antifertility, antioxidant, antidiarrhoel, neuroprotective, cardioprotective, antiviral and Nephroprotective activities.
