Abstract

The construction of the image of Carlos Chagas after the discovery of Trypanosoma cruzi in illustrated magazines in Rio de Janeiro between 1909 and 1920 is provided. The discourse of the magazines Fon-fon , Careta and Illustracao Brasileira is analyzed with regard to the Brazilian scientist and his discovery. Characterized by humor, the magazines are investigated with regard to the construction and the constitution of the scientist´s image.
