Abstract

Black brotherhoods have been one of the most efficient means of slaves and free people integration in the Portuguese society. This article is about the most ancient regulation of one black brotherhood in Portugal and about its integration in the several religious associations. About the Confraria do Rosario, it aims through the study of that regulation to know the funding sources, the functions of the Confraria, and subsequent forms of application.
