Abstract

Quality information produced in manufacturing process is closely related to the decision of the objectives of product quality. However, manufacturing quality information is rarely taken into consideration by product and process designers. It is very difficult for designers to identify, capture and represent. Firstly, the characteristics of product structure tree as product information carrier are analyzed, and then the concept model of manufacturing quality information based on product structure tree is given. Secondly, in the light of ideas of object- oriented modeling, product information can be abstracted as product class, data class and relationship class. Manufacturing quality information belongs to data class. Data class can further be divided into attribute class and document class. Manufacturing quality information is abstracted as data object, and then can be added to product general structure tree. Finally, based on understanding the merits of combination between XML language and STEP standards in quality information representation, a three-layer framework of manufacturing quality information is proposed. It includes application layer, logical layer and physical layer.
