Abstract

ABSTRACT A description is given of a detrital grain from the Elsburg A1 Reef, Orange Free State goldfield, which is composed of several other abraded constituents, mostly heavy minerals. There is no question that this grain is a fragment of an older conglomerate, thus indicating extensive reworking and resedimentation processes during the deposition of the Upper Division of the Witwatersrand System.
