Abstract

A CF test was developed which was of use in identifying newly isolated strains of avian mycoplasmas. An unequivocal assignment of serotype was possible for about half of the antigens prepared from 2nd or 3rd broth passage. With others the reactions were insufficient to allow for positive identification. From preliminary investigation it appeared possible that the CF test might be used as a diagnostic aid by applying it to the detection of mycoplasmal antigens in tissues. The test was useful for quantitating the production of antigen in cultures.
