We sought to determine whether oral sodium bicarbonate has a similar effect onurinepH to intravenous sodium bicarbonate in patients at risk of CIN. Methods:Cardiology and renal patients scheduled for a non-urgent contrast enhanced procedure and who were eligible for intravenous bicarbonate administration per Austin health guidelines to prevent CIN were invited to participate. Participants received intravenous bicarbonate (150mmole) at 3mmol/kg/h one hour prior, then 1mmol/kg/h during and after the procedure.
