Abstract

In this paper, a comprehensive study has been done between the use of low-pass filters and high-pass filters in multi-terminal DC systems that depend on voltage source converters. This comparison was simulated in the MATLAB modeling program and presented in d-q coordinates. The three-level pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique was used to control the voltage source converters (VSC). This comparison was made to select the appropriate type of filters in the connection between the DC network of DESERTEC ±500 kV and the AC network in Syria that operates at a voltage of 400 kV. As a result of the test, the performance of the system consisting of four direct current terminals (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey) as well as the AC network in Syria was evaluated by using low and high pass filters.
