Abstract

1. Liver microsome preparations of the elasmobranchs Ginglymostoma cirratum (nurse shark) and Raja eglanteria (cleamose skate) were examined for monooxygenase activity using aflatoxin B 1 as substrate. 2. At equiprotein concentrations, elasmobranch microsomes were less than 20%ä as active as calf liver in producing mutagenic metabolites of aflatoxin B 1.
