Abstract

Combined together with the cyclic stress-strain theory and cumulative damage theory, a new fatigue life prediction model is proposed. Existing tensile-compressive fatigue models and the proposed new model are used to estimate the fatigue life of several kinds of metal and a comparison is made between the predicted results and the field-test data. The proposed new model is also applied to the strain spectra of several Diesel engine components. The new proposed stain-life equation is proved to be valid for the life prediction of materials and engine components.
