Abstract

A new compact box-shaped antenna based on suspended patch structure, suited for repeater antenna, is proposed in this paper. By employing two shorting plates, the overall antenna size is only about 0.27λ 0 × 0.21λ 0 × 0.035λ 0 (λ 0 is the wavelength corresponding to the lower edge 808MHz). With the aid of the fork-shaped feeding strip, bandwidth enhancement is achieved. A 28.8% simulated impedance bandwidth, ranging from 808MHz to 1080MHz, is obtained within 2:1 VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio). Moreover, the prototype of the antenna is constructed and tested, and a 28.3% impedance bandwidth is observed, shown good agreement with simulated results.
