Abstract

Circularly polarized shorted compact implantable patch antenna is designed and validated in vitro environment for ISM band biomedical regime. The proposed structure is implemented by means of shorting of patch and ground plane with two plates and insertion of such unit in close vicinity to the feed position. Compared with initial research work carried out, the proposed technique has an improvement in size reduction. The dimension of proposed antenna are 14*14*1.6 mm. The simulated return loss, VSWR, radiation pattern and axial ratio are studied and implemented in Gustav voxel human body simulation model to discuss different biocompatibility issue. In cubic skin phantom model, the simulated impedance bandwidth is 8.4%.
