Abstract
Reservoir production performance prediction model and water flooding type-curves are two main analytical methods in reservoir engineering, which have been applied to oilfield development planning and production performance prediction. However, the above two methods have some drawbacks respectively. The production performance prediction model cannot be used to predict water cut, while the water flooding type-curves cannot estimate the water cut variation with time. Based on the similar characteristics between the Von Bertalanffy model and oilfield production performance, the cumulative, annual, and maximum annual oil production models are derived. A combined solution prediction model is built using the Von Bertalanffy model combined with the water flooding type-curves, which can predict water cut in different production time. The proposed model overcomes the drawbacks of the production performance prediction model and water flooding type-curves. The two examples show that the daily and cumulative oil production predicted by the proposed model have high accuracy, and the water cut predicted by the improved model A water drive curve agrees well with production history, which could satisfy the demands of reservoir production performance prediction, and has great potentials for the formulation of development plan and alternation of production strategies in water flooding oilfield.
