Abstract

The inhibiting impact of the adsorbent cationic polymer Amberlite®IRC-50 resin extract inhibitor, on mild steel (MS) corrosion in molar HCl solution has examined. For this purpose, Potentiodynamic Polarization measurements have been carried out and electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). It has perceived that the increase of inhibitor concentration managed to significant corrosion rate reduction of MS in molar hydrochloric acid solution, with inhibitive efficiency, value reaching 91.3% at 10−3M inhibitor concentration. The inhibition efficiency augmented with inhibitor concentration increase. Temperature influence on the corrosion comportment of MS in molar HCl at the inhibitors optimal concentration of 10−3M studied in the ambit of temperature 298-328 K. Polarization plots showed that Amberlite®IRC-50 resin extract acted as mixed type inhibitors. The technical adsorption mechanism of the studied was consistent with the Langmuir isotherm model. The corroded surface have also analyzed by SEM/EDX, technique.
