Abstract
A preliminary study on plasma treatment of dye solutions and dyed paper strips is presented. The discoloration and degradation of all nine organic dyes upon exposure of plasma was observed. UV-vis spectra were used to quantitatively characterize the degradation efficiency of the plasma. Discoloration rates may be used as the parameter for comparison of the oxidation strength of plasma. The oxidation strength of plasma may also be empirically compared using the discoloration of the dyed papers.
