Abstract
In this paper we present a simple circuit for generating the monocycle pulses required in a time hopping ultra-wideband transmitter for an intra/inter chip wireless interconnection system. The monocycle pulse, which has a wide bandwidth, is obtained from damped sinusoidal signals generated from a resistance-inductance-capacitance circuit with a low pass resistance-capacitance filter, transmission gate and digital control circuit. A single-chip implementation of this circuit based on 0.18 µm CMOS technology and results of its simulation named “HSPICE” are presented in this paper. The simulation shows that the generated monocycle pulse has wide bandwidth characteristics. The developed circuit consumes low power (4.4 mW) and occupies a small area (0.19 mm2).
