1356-689X/$ e see front matter 2010 Elsevier Ltd. doi:10.1016/j.math.2010.07.010 This case study charts the assessment and treatment of a patient with low back pain, radiating to one leg, as far as the ankle. This is a common presentation to any spinal clinic or physiotherapy department. The purpose of this case study is to highlight an unusual, yet well recognised cause of back and leg pain, and to raise the awareness of clinicians of potential differential diagnoses for this most common clinical picture.
