Abstract

Metastatic neoplasms to the oral and maxillofacial (OMF) region from distant sites are rare and only 1% of all oral malignant tumors.1 They are most often located in the mandible,2-6 where a majority occur in the molar region.1,3,4,7,8 These tumors are very seldom found in oral soft tissues. In the OMF region, metastatic tumors typically originate in the breast, followed by the lungs, kidneys, thyroid gland, intestines, prostate gland, stomach, testes, and bladder.4,5,7,9 Metastatic tumors generally tend to occur more often in patients older than 60 years.
