Abstract

A case of macroglobulinemia with gastric cancer is reported. The patient was a 72-year-old man. The diagnosis of macroglobulinemia was established on the basis of an increase in serum monoclonal IgM (3110mg/dl) and a reduction of other serum immunoglobulins. The patient was treated with bestrabucil, and serum IgM gradually decreased. In January 1987, epigastric pain appeared, and a gastroendoscopic examination revealed gastric cancer of Borrmann I in the posterior wall of the antrum. The pathohistological diagnosis obtained by biopsy was tubular adenocarcinoma. Surgery was not performed because CT showed a multiple low density area in the liver. The patient died in September 1987.
