Abstract

Inflammatory fibroid polyps (IFP) are rare benign neoplastic lesions of mesenchymal origin that were initially described in 1949 by the Czech pathologist Dr Josef Vanek, and thus have garnered the eponymous name, Vanek tumour.1 They are lesions that can occur throughout the gastrointestinal tract and can present clinically as gastric outlet obstruction or intussusception.2 Treatment often involves surgical resection. Here we present a case of a 58-year-old lady who presented to the emergency department with a 4 month history of intermittent abdominal pain.
