Abstract

Pseudoaneurysm of the superficial temporal artery (STA) is a rare vascular lesion that typically presents after traumatic head injury. Most of them occur mainly in the anterior branch of the STA, and their occurrence in the preauricular region without any history of trauma is very uncommon. In this article, we describe a 78-year-old female patient presenting a painless preauricular, pulsatile mass without any history of facial trauma. The mass was completely removed following ligation and division of STA both proximally and distally. In most case reports, the diagnosis was performed with thoughtful history taking and physical examination. Diagnostic imaging is especially useful in cases of STA aneurysm without any history of trauma. Herein, we present a rare case of preauricular pseudoaneurysm of STA with a literature review.
