Abstract

The exsiting cascade failure models mostly focus on the network paralysis caused by the removal of the nodes or edges. However, in a transportation network, traffic accidents happened on edges create new nodes. In this paper, a model with topology variation is established by adopting the method of topology variation in biomolecular network. To establish the cascade failure model with network topology variation, we introduced a congestion coefficient into the user equilibrium distribution model. The proposed cascade failure model can be used to evaluate and quantify cascade failures caused by traffic accidents in a transportation network.
