Abstract

A new and canonical synthesis for a class of immittance functions that can be represented by a product of an <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">RL</tex> and an <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">RC</tex> impedance is presented. It is shown that the well-known Foster synthesis for two-element kind networks can be considered as a special case of the above synthesis. Furthermore, the topology of the synthesized immittances can be determined in advance and allows for different network realizations.
