Abstract

The mean energy and energy spread of neutrons from the D(d,n) 3He reaction have been calculated as a function of the angle of emission of the neutrons for a 2 MeV deutron beam incident on a semi-thick deuterated titanium target. The results have application in neutron cross-section measurements in the 2–5 MeV region, for which the D(d,n) 3He reaction is commonly used as source.
