Abstract

A broadband image-rejection SHP (sub-harmonically pumped) mixer in Ka-band is proposed in this paper. It is composed of two SHP mixers, an LO in-phase power divider, and an RF quadrature-phase divider/combiner. To get smaller chip size, quasi-lumped components are utilized in the design. The simulated conversion loss of the chip is 11-12.5dB, image rejection is better than 20dB in most of the Ka-band, and second harmonic component of LO (2LO) is well suppressed at RF/IF port. The compact chip size, 1.4x1.5mm2 using a 0.15μm GaAs pHEMT technology, makes it useful both as a single device or be an integrated part of a transceiver chip.
