Abstract

A 36-year-old woman, with no past medical history, was referred for a blue liver noted intraoperatively during laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy (Figures A and B). She had had a history of intermittent scleral icterus since childhood. There was no drug history and no family history of liver disease. Other than scleral icterus, physical examination was unremarkable. Conjugated bilirubin was raised at 19 μmol/L. Serology was nonreactive for hepatitis B and C. Workup for autoimmune hepatitis, Wilson’s disease, and hemochromatosis was unremarkable.
