Abstract

The occurrence of fungal infections is increasing at a distressing rate, presenting an vast pressure and challenge to healthcare professionals for their diagnosis and treatment. Rising fungal infections is also cause of significant morbidity and mortality. This emergence is directly related to the increasing population of immune-compromised individuals. Patient with circumstance such as Granulocytopenia, advanced HIV infection, bone marrow and solid organ transplantation, cancer, diabetes mellitus, severe burn and trauma and severe malnutrition are amongst many others predisposing factor for low immunity. Pityriasis versicolor most normally affects young adults and is slightly more widespread in men than in women. It can also influence children, adolescents, and older adults. Pityriasis versicolor is more common in hot, humid climates than in cool, dry climates. It often affects people who perspire heavily. It may clear in the winter months and persist each summer.
