Abstract

In the article, the etiology of personality disorders is clearly and concisely presented from a psychodynamic perspective. The psychodynamic model is the most comprehensive and profound attempt to explain the emergence of personality disorders. The article lists key phenomena used in the modern understanding of personality disorders for clinical purposes, derived from classical psychoanalytic theory and neoanalytic theories (object relations theory, attachment theory).
