Abstract

Concepts are reflections of different phenomena in various domains of society. They are people's objective perceptions and intentions. Concepts originate and develop in social practice. Marx pointed out: "While changing their own realities, people who develop their material production and who come in contact with material objects also change their own thinking and the products of such thinking."1 As herders—the principals of Tibet's economy—carry forward the market economy and the process of urbanization, their concepts are constantly being renovated along with changes in production and lifestyle. I shall attempt a discussion of the changes in the Tibetan herders' traditional concepts, and hope to receive feedback from my colleagues.
