Abstract

A computer network is proposed in which at least two hierarchical levels are distinguished. At the lowest level distributed microcomputer-based controllers are used to carry out control, alarm scanning and data collection. The design and the modification of controllers by the control engineer takes place at a higher level. The supervision of the process by the operator is also performed at a higher level. A command language together with a block-diagram language is introduced. The construction of a specific controller has been facilitated for the designer, who is familiar with block-diagrams. The proposed block-diagram language resembles in many aspects those used in simulation-packages.
