Abstract
The logistic energy distribution derived from the Langmuir-Freundlich adsorption isotherm has been extended to the adsorption of two solutes on the same adsorbent. The resulting bidimensional logistic (BL) distribution provides a new model for the binding isotherm. The adsorption of two nitrophenols onto a composite of surfactant-modified aluminium-pillared montmorillonite (Al-SMPM) and activated carbon (AC) was studied as an example. The BL model behaved slightly better than the Scheindorf-Rebhun-Sheintuch (SRS) model and neatly better than the Non Ideal Competitive Adsorption (NICA) model.
