Abstract
The management of regional fractures has engaged the attention of the general surgeon and the specialist throughout the history of surgery. The only answer to any medical discussion is the patient himself. Whatever method contributes most to the well being of the sick or disabled is the method of choice. The principles and methods of modern orthodontia supply the means of managing fractures of the jaws, regardless of the type or extent of injury. The more difficult the case, the more convincing and satisfactory the method becomes. In fractures of other bones, immediate reduction and immobilization are required. In fractures of the jaws with displacement, immediate complete reduction is rarely possible. Here one must be content with gradual reduction.
