Abstract

This paper presents a balanced tunable non-resonating node (NRN) based dual-band filter which produces a bandpass response under differential mode (DM) and a wide stopband under common mode (CM) excitation. Using one uniform impedance resonator and two assymetrical stepped impedance resonators (SIR) for CM operation, a flat stopband with five transmission zeros can be achieved. The lengths and widths of the SIR line sections are adjusted to achieve required transmission zeros and rejection level in the CM stopband. For demonstration, a varactor loaded balanced dual-band tunable prototype is designed and implemented.
