Abstract

According to the WHO, in 2050 the number of elderly people aged 60 and over will exceed the number of total children aged zero to 14 years old. Arterial hypertension (technical term) or high blood pressure (term used by the lay public) is a chronic disease that often affects elderly people, characterized by high levels of blood pressure in the arteries. It occurs when the maximum and minimum pressure values are equal to or exceed 140/90 mmHg (or 14 by 9) The objective of the Physiotherapy professional is to assist in the prevention of diseases or mainly in the care of patients with SAH, promoting quality of life, independence and improving the daily life of the elderly. Care needs to be provided or better applied so that this high population population follows a path where morbidity and mortality do not increase as a result of the health of the elderly.
