Abstract
This article analyzes the Chinese foreign policy regarding the South China Sea between the years 2016 to 2020. Through document analysis and literature review, it is possible to say that China has an ambitious long-term project and that the South China Sea would raise it to hegemonic condition. It is emphasized that the country sees the need for cooperation as a international power to reach development.
