Abstract

CASE REPORT erein, we report a case of a 60-year-old Caucasian male patient who endorsed recurrent Hasymptomatic gross hematuria in scheduled follow-up after a right nephroureterectomy (NU). Before 5 months, the patient had undergone a hand-assisted laparoscopic right nephrectomy with total ureterectomy for a 4-cm, high-grade papillary urothelial cell carcinoma (UCC) invading into the lamina propria of the renal pelvis. The patient had an uneventful postoperative course that included resolution of the gross hematuria, which prompted his initial evaluation. The hematuria recurred 2 weeks before his follow-up visit, the patient noting clots toward the end of urination. The patient is a former smoker with a 45-pack-year history who endorsed exposure to various chemicals during previous employment in a photography laboratory.
