A 5-year-old with abnormal hand and forearm

Abstract

A 5-year-old boy presented with a history of abnormal wrist painful on movement and restricted range of movement of his elbow. A radiograph (Fig. 1a) revealed absence of the distal ulna with bowing and proximal dislocation of the radius, while dual echo steady state (DESS; Fig. 1b, c) and Proton Density (Fig. 1d) weighted sequences demonstrated the presence of the proximal ulnar cartilage structures and trochlea as well as a probable fibrous anlage distally.
