Abstract
A 3-dimensional permanent-magnet helical wiggler model has been developed to investigate injection criteria for stable off-axis orbits. The wiggler is modeled as an axial stack of dipole rings where each ring has been rotated by π 2 rad with respect to the ring preceding it. Each dipole ring represents an assembly of 8 rare-earth cobalt magnets which have their magnetization orientation given by the Halbach magnetization scheme. The model assumes that rare-earth cobalt magnets may be replaced by charge sheet equivalent material (CSEM) thus allowing the superposition principle for magnetic fields to be utilized.
