Abstract
Abstract This paper describes a 14-CPU distributed real-time automatic gauge control (AGC) system for POSCO's No. 2 Hot Strip Mill at Pohang works. The AGC system uses the well-established gaugemeter AGC and monitor AGC. The AGC system also compensates for process disturbances to prevent performance deterioration. The AGC computer system has been integrated by using VMEbus computer systems along with a commercial real-time operating system. All the application programs and signal input/output are reasonably distributed over the AGC computer system to maximize reliability and effectiveness. The new AGC system is successfully being used in the No. 2 Hot Strip Mill.
