Abstract

In this paper, a novel wideband LNA with excellent figure-of-merit (FoM) is proposed for sub-6-GHz applications by applying the proposed noise cancelling and current reuse structure. The channel noise of the common-gate (CG) transistor that provides wideband input matching is cancelled at the output end by the inverse superposition. Further, the gm-boosting technique for CG transistor and current reuse of the auxiliary path are employed for keeping a lower power consumption. The proposed LNA is designed in 28 nm CMOS technology and verified in post simulation. The proposed noise-cancelling current reuse LNA exhibits a noise Figure (NF) of 2.3–3.1 dB over the 3dB bandwidth of 0.15–5.9GHz while the power consumption is only 3.7 mW from 0.9-V supply. The LNA exhibits a max gain of 13.4 dB, an input intercept point (IIP3) –7.1––2.8 dBm, and the S <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf> < –12 dB across the whole working band.
