Abstract

Concrete is the most used construction material and is used everywhere in the world. When concrete is exposed to aggressive environments, it could be damaged and/or deteriorated locally or globally. The repair of concrete thus becomes inevitable for concrete structures. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the development of novel repair materials for Portland cement concrete. Literature review indicates that the alkali-activated materials are suitable for use as a repair material for concrete. This chapter concentrates on the use of fly ash alkali–activated material for repairing Portland cement concrete. Some important properties, bonding, and performance of the repair materials under various aggressive environments are compiled.
