Abstract

On the development of medical devices, electrospun fibers have been loaded with a wide variety of molecules, including antibiotics, antiinflammatory drugs, anticancer drugs, as well as genetic materials, plain or vectorized in different kinds of nanoparticulate systems. These molecule-loaded fibrous structures may serve either as a depot for the sustained release of drugs of interest or as a chemical signal to guide cell growth, differentiation, and behavior.
