Abstract

This chapter provides a summary of the economically important arthropod field pests of small grains (wheat and barley), namely barley thrips, brown wheat mite, cereal leaf beetle, Hessian fly, rice armyworm, Russian wheat aphid, sunn pest, wheat curl mite, wheat stem maggot, and wheat stem sawfly. The information presented includes pest status, taxonomic descriptions, and biology and ecology. A range of pest management practices (cultural, biological, and chemical methods) for the pests are also reviewed.
