Abstract

AbstractA new class of flat panel display (FPD), the ThinCRT™, has been developed. This new technology shows promise for applications ranging from power efficient notebook computer and handheld displays to desktop monitors and televisions. A thin form factor (<8mm) has been combined with CRT visual performance in a low cost, volume manufacturable technology. This has been achieved by using a relatively high (6kV) anode voltage, low (<1O.5V) column driver switching voltages, with low resolution (>5 micron) photolithographically defined features. The construction and performance of ThinCRT displays are discussed.
