Abstract

This chapter presents a computer program for the design of finite impulse response (FIR) linear phase SAW filters. The program is that of McClellan, Parks, and Rabiner for FIR linear phase digital filter design with minor modifications for application to linear phase SAW filters. for the chapter provides examples for SAW bandpass filters, multi-passband filters, notch filters and equalizer filters that are obtained with this program. The accuracy of the program output data increases with the size of the grid density specification (LGRID). This requires increased precision for the bit word size. In designs such as for the multi-passband SAW filter, the input specification for the grid density size (LGRID) has been reduced from 32 to 16 to avoid round-off errors with the computer.
