Abstract

It is expected to manufacture new materials under the micro-gravity environment in space in recent years. Under the micro-gravity environment, holding and drive technology of molten metal is important to manufacture new materials. Moreover, in order to create the material of very high purity, it is also important to measure the physical properties of the material by non-contacting. At first, the possibility of maintenance and drive of liquid droplet with the ultrasonic wave is experimentally examined. Next, the surface tension of the droplet is computed by measuring surface oscillation. And by comparing with the calculated value and a known literature value the possibility of this technique is examined. Finally, damping constant of the droplet is calculated from the oscillation data. The viscous coefficient of liquid droplet is calculated using the expression of relations of the damping constant. And the possibility of this technique is examined.
