Abstract
The safety of storage tanks in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries, which are the leading storage equipment, is essential and has attracted more and more attention. So, safety assessment and risk management of large and medium-sized natural gas storage tanks are important measures to estimate their safety status and improve equipment safety management levels. This chapter includes a list of generic equipment for each type of storage system. In the following, explanations are given about safeguards, safe design, human errors, risks, and their prevention, as well as the types of storage tanks and related tools that play a role in storage safety. The safety importance of each component is discussed, and a classification category is assigned.
