Abstract
Seamless knitting technology produces a complete garment without any bulky stitches or joining parts of the garment from both circular and V-bed knitting machines. The main advantages of this technology are cost saving, time saving, higher productivity, minimal waste, best fit, and comfort. A three-dimensional garment can be directly produced from yarns by seamless knitting machines as per the requirement of design and fit. Shima Seiki, Stoll, SANTONI etc., are leaders in the manufacturing of such seamless knitting machines. WholeGarment©, Knit and wear©, and “Seamless Technology” are the phrases very popular today in the knitting market to trade seamless knitted garments. This chapter conceives the history of seamless knitting technology, various merits and limitations, seamless mechanisms, and machineries. Various applications of the seamless knits for fashion apparel, intimate wears, sportswear, home textiles, upholstery, automobiles, medical textiles etc., are described.
